Better printing functionality

July 25th, 2006

We’ve changed the printing functionality to work better; both for the standard print page as well as the search results. The listings are horizontal now, and just stack on top of each other. We’ve also got a little “Hide this address” link at the top of each listing, so you can hide the ones you don’t want to print. That should save you some printer paper. There’s a “Display all addresses” link to bring back all the hidden ones again.

We’ve noticed that some of the listings are getting clipped down at the bottom, cutting off some of the notes. We’re going to look for a fix for that.

RSS Subscriptions

July 13th, 2006

We’ve added the ability to subscribe to cities as RSS feeds, so you’ll be notified whenever there’s a new garage sale posted in your area.

Area Searching

July 13th, 2006

Finding garage sales over a larger area has been implemented. On the main menu bar, you can now enter an address, city/town, or postal code and garageMaps will find and display all user created garage sales within a 10 mile radius. Have fun!

Garage Sale Posting Functionality

July 12th, 2006

People hosting garage sales now have the ability to post their garage sales. Instead of having to make a map containing only a single address, users can simply post their garage sale for everyone to view. The option to post a sale has been added to the main menu bar at the top of all garageMaps.com pages.

New Blog for garageMaps.com

July 12th, 2006

garageMaps.com is a garage sale mapping tool built with Google Maps. It lets you map out a series of garage sales in your area. Once you’ve got them all mapped out, you can print out a handy version with minimaps that you can take on the road. You can also share your maps with the rest of the community. If you’re hosting a garage sale, you can post it to the site as well. Everything’s totally free.

We’ll maintain this blog to keep track of the changes and improvements we’re making to the site, as well as give people an opportunity to give us comments or feedback or request features.
